The Solinst Well Casing and Depth Indicator 105 is a simple and robust unit. The gauge is easy to use, both when measuring for metal in well pipe and when measuring total depth in a well. Both of these functions can be used without having to replace the probe.
The device is particularly suitable for determining where metal pipes start and end in both new and old well constructions.
A dual-function stainless steel probe is used, which is connected to a clearly marked band, mounted on a well-balanced roller.
The probe has a strong internal magnetic device that detects the well pipe. When the probe is adjacent to, for example, steel, a circuit is completed and a vibrator and light are activated. The signaling consists of intermittent beeps and a bright red, flashing light.
The signal stops when the probe is past the pipe. The depth can be read on the tape at the surface.
When measuring the total depth of the well, a plunger is used at the bottom of the probe. Again, sound and light are activated when the plunger reaches the bottom of the well and is pushed into the probe to form a magnetic circuit. Again, the depth is read off the tape at the surface.
