Description
Visibility Sensor Sentry™ 73000 Atmospheric Visibility
The Sentry™ 73000 visibility sensor from RM Young measures atmospheric visibility (meteorological optical range) by determining the amount of light scattered by particles in the air (smoke, dust, fog, mist, rain and snow).
All-weather performance is achieved with an integrated sensor design that keeps all sensor wiring internal to the sensor for complete protection from the elements. The sensor is constructed of anodized aluminum and rugged, UV-resistant fiberglass housings. Based on proven field experience from the NWS and FAA, the sensor utilizes a “look down” geometry to reduce window contamination and snow clogging. The optical windows feature continuous anti-fog. An optional thermostatically controlled external hood heater is available for additional protection in extreme environments. All power and signal wiring to the Sentry™ is protected with surge protection and EMI filtering to ensure uninterrupted service for the life of the sensor.
Installation and maintenance are simple with the Sentry™. A rugged mounting flange located at the bottom of the main cabinet mates with a user-supplied 1-1/2-inch IPS mounting tube. Power and signal cables are installed through waterproof cable glands at the bottom of the main cabinet to terminal boards for simple yet reliable connections.
Calibrating the Sentry™ in the field is as simple as attaching a factory-supplied calibration fixture and following a procedure that takes less than 30 minutes.
