SDI-12 to RS232 Converter TBS06-TS with BUS sniffer
The SDI-12 to RS232 Converter TBS06-TS from Tekbox is an interface for connecting a PC, data logger or RTU to one or more sensors with an SDI-12 interface. The TBS06-TS connects to the RS232 interface and provides an SDI-12 compatible data interface. The device is a versatile tool for anyone who designs sensors and data loggers, or who installs, tests or maintains SDI-12 based data acquisition systems. In addition, it includes an SDI-12 bus sniffer mode.
It is available in an IP67 housing from Fibox or in a Dinrail housing.
The SDI-12 standard defines a set of commands for configuring sensors and for initiating measurements. Upon receiving specific commands, the sensor can perform internal tasks, respond with information about conversion time or send measurement data.
SDI-12 commands are typically ASCII strings generated by the firmware of the data recorder/controller. The TBS06-TS can be controlled by a PC application or hyper terminal and converts the command strings to the logic levels and baud rate specified by the SDI-12 standard. In addition, the TBS06-TS handles pauses, marks and all other details of the SDI-12 protocol. After receiving data or status information originating from a sensor, the TBS06-TS extracts the corresponding ASCII strings and sends it to the COM port of the PC.
