Description
Handheld sludge level meter 715 – checking sludge level in clarification tanks
The Partech 715 handheld sludge level gauge provides reliable detection of the sludge level. This is necessary to allow operators to de-sludge tanks at the right time. Emptying the tank too often is inefficient in terms of labor and can affect the operation of other parts of the sludge treatment system. If the tank also has too much sludge, it can result in transfer to the next process stage or into the local watercourse. Neither scenario is desirable, and the 715 provides a quick and easy check of the interface position without relying on operator judgment.
The device uses a series of infrared sensors to detect the sludge interface. Infrared attenuation has been chosen as it is ideal for detecting the sludge present in the interface zone. This tends to be considerably ‘thinner’ than the sludge present at the bottom of a settling tank.
The instrument provides a simple, low-cost method for spot checking the sludge level in a wide range of settling tanks. The cable reel design eliminates the need for any additional carrying bag.
The mud mirror is detected by winding the sensor down into the tank, the audible tone changes and the LED lights up when the sensor has reached the carpet.
This method of sludge level detection offers major improvements over traditional SludgeJudge systems in terms of both repeatability and, most importantly, health and safety – no more handling 4 metres of pipes full of contaminated wastewater.
