Description
Clamp-on Doppler Flowmeter Flow Pulse – a non-invasive flowmeter
The Clamp-on Doppler Flowmeter Flow Pulse from Pulsar is a non-invasive flow sensor that attaches to the outside of a pipe and is simply secured with a screwdriver. The sensor uses a new spread spectrum analysis technique incorporating a Digital Signal Processing approach that provides exceptional repeatability.
The FlowPulse fires ultrasound through a variety of pipe walls (rigid plastic, stainless steel, cast iron and even corrugated cardboard) at 90 degrees to the flow, via a tangentially mounted high output ceramic. It is then refracted at an angle across the flow and then reflected from bubbles, particles and eddies in all directions at a wide range of frequencies. This is why the ideal application for this product is in dirty/contaminated flow.
The sensor offers a significant cost saving compared to other flowmeters. There is no need to break into the pipe, involve civil engineers or interrupt service. The digital platform used with the FlowPulse offers robust performance in measurement repeatability, as well as the flexibility to adapt to application requirements. Features such as damping and response time can be easily customized to suit.
The sensor can operate as a stand-alone unit requiring 18-28 V DC. If used as a stand-alone unit, the FlowPulse will require programming via software and the supplied cable. Optionally, you can combine this sensor with a dedicated wall-mounted unit that provides alarm or control relays. For fully portable flow readings, you can combine this sensor with the FlowPulse HandHeld controller for an instant indication of flow. For pump monitoring and/or efficiency indication, the FlowPulse is combined with a pump controller from the Pulsar Pump Control series for a full range of comprehensive pump control routines.
