Fluorides are chemical substances, these are used, among other things, to make outerwear water and dirt repellent, the fluorine substances can be found in the surface treatment of outerwear. Some fluorine substances are harmful to humans and difficult to degrade in nature. In 2020, the European Food Safety Agency adopted final acceptable levels for the intake of various fluorine substances. Based on this, a new quality criterion for drinking water quality was prepared. Among other reasons, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency tightened the requirements for the limit values for some of the fluorine substances in the summer of 2021.
